The Red Dragon Express vintage train has just travelled through Wales and people loved it

People flocked to their nearest train stations in Wales yesterday to see an impressive vintage train pass by.

The old Red Dragon steam engine travelled from Bristol to Carmarthen on Wednesday, July 29 and people looked on in awe.

Steve Curtis watched as it passed through Llanelli heading west and said it was wonderful to see.

He said: "It’s something I look forward to every time you hear of the the steam train passing through and just wanted one good photo of the steam train passing through with the smoke in view."

Originally The Red Dragon was an express passenger train which went from London to Swansea to Carmarthen.

From 1950 to 1965 it was run by the Western Region of British Railways.

The dragon on its headboard was introduced in the 1950s, to give the locomotive a sense of regional identity.
