The record Man City hope to set against Burnley at the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City head into Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Burnley looking to set a new English record.

The previous four meetings between the two sides at the Etihad Stadium have all finished 5-0 to Pep Guardiola’s side and the same scoreline today will be record-breaking.

No team in English football history has previously won five home games in a row against the same opponent by five or more goals.

The four wins have come across three Premier League ties and a FA Cup fixture, dating back to 2018.

City have already dispatched five goals past Norwich City and Arsenal in the league this season, while scoring six past Wycombe Wanderers and RB Leipzig in domestic and European cup competitions.

The omens are good for the home side as Burnley are yet to win a game so far this season and have a poor defensive record, keeping one clean sheet in seven games.
