The record in Christian Pulisic's sights ahead of Chelsea's clash with Manchester City

Christian Pulisic has the chance to write his name into the Premier League record books this weekend.

Pulisic has been in fine form since being reinstated into the Blues’ starting line-up, scoring five times in his last three Premier League games, including a hat-trick in a 4-2 win at Burnley and a goal in the 2-0 defeat of Crystal Palace.

The former Borussia Dortmund man is now one of the first names on Lampard’s team sheet, having been restricted to just three top-flight starts between the start of the season and late October.

The USA international joined Chelsea in a £57.6m move in February from the German giants, but spent the remainder of last season on loan with the Bundesliga side.

And if Pulisic finds the net against Manchester City this Saturday then he will become the first American to score in four consecutive Premier League games.

However, the 21-year-old is facing an anxious wait to discover whether he will be fit in time to face the reigning Premier League champions.

Pulisic picked up a hip injury in the win over Palace, with boss Frank Lampard saying afterwards: “The only frustration is he comes off with a bit of an injury.

‘He was going to be subbed before he scored his goal, he’s got a bit of a hip issue, but I’m hoping it’s not too bad because the way he’s in full flow at the moment is great to see.”

The American also missed his country’s games against Canada and Cuba over the international break.
