“The Tanamana pattern was quick and easy and I extended the handles to make it into a shoulder bag.” Photograph: Angela McGregor
“When I'm gardening I have no pockets to hold my iPod, so I've knitted a bag with a strap. I can wear it while I'm weeding, pruning and planting.” Photograph: Anne Thomas
“This is my version of Tanamana, which I made using bamboo yarn and decorated with pom poms. It is the first knitting project I've managed to complete, and I'm pretty happy with it. It was very easy; the only major mistake was running out of yarn and having to knit the handles a bit thinner.“ Photograph: Annie Gullett
“The apple cosy is going to my friend, Trish, who laughed at the ridiculousness of it. The banana cosy is off to my 5-year-old friend, Bella, and the cup holder will be foisted on one of my colleagues who does a lot of train travel and drinks a lot of coffee. Thanks for making me try yet another bloody craft which doesn't sit well with my persona as a feminist career woman!” Photograph: Charlotte Bilby
"I decided not to try to get each one the same colour as it looks more interesting this way. They are my first lace project and apart from a few mistakes at the beginning of the first one, I am very pleased with the end result! They are made for me, which is why one is 1.5cm longer than the other (I have odd feet)." Photograph: Ella
“I chose to make the Whisp wristwarmer in two different colours: one with a black wristband, red pocket and black button and vice versa with the other one. I chose those colours because they are my favourite.” Photograph: Emma Lamb
“I made these socks for my other half who wanted some comfy slipper socks. He's definitely converted to hand knitted socks now, he says they are so much comfier than normal shop bought acrylic-y ones.” Photograph: Kath Glover
“I made the iPod case for my stepson Harri's birthday, but am tempted to keep it for myself!” Photograph: Miriam Forbes
“Ocado carrier bags: orange for fridge, purple for cupboard. Hard on the fingers but well worth the effort.” Photograph: Rosemary
“I chose to do this project partly to use up leftovers, partly because it had a 5* difficulty rating and I like a challenge.” Photograph: Saffron

“I had some leftovers from having supervised a knitting circle at my son’s school, which I used to make this bag. I finished it off by crocheting a small circle and sewing it on with the last bit of yellow; I think it looks a bit like a flower.” Photograph: Stephanie Dennis
