Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United should avoid pursuing a deal for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala this summer.
That's according to former Arsenal player Stewart Robson.
Football.london reported last week that Spurs have been in discussions with the Serie A champions over an ambitious move for the Argentina international as Mauricio Pochettino looks to further bolster his squad ahead of deadline day.
Rated at £80m so any deal would smash the club's transfer record for a second time this summer, with the Lilywhites having already signed Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for £63m at he beginning of the month.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have also been linked with a move for Dybala and a potential swap deal which would see Romelu Lukaku move in the opposite direction was mooted over the weekend.
Whilst many feel Dybala to the Premier League would be a statement of intent, Robson has warned both interested parties to steer well clear of the 25-year-old.
"I’m afraid I don’t agree," he said on ESPN FC . "I’ve seen Dybala play a lot for Juventus and he’s struggled a little bit.
"I think he’s a nearly man, he’s a fringe player.
"Manchester United at the moment, I think they should get rid of [Romelu] Lukaku, absolutely right.
"But I don’t think Dybala is the sort of player that’s going to make Manchester United a lot better.
"He’s a fringe player, he likes playing off other people.
"I don’t think he’s strong enough to play in the Premier League at the moment.
"I’m not a great Dybala fan, I think he’s a bit-part player.
"I don’t think he would get into Spurs’ team, there we go."
Spurs and United might not have the chance to sign Dybala at all this summer as Sky in Italy are claiming that the Argentine wants to stay at Juventus and fight for his place under Maurizio Sarri.
