This season has seen players return to their clubs in a head coach position.
The two biggest examples of this in the Premier League is Frank Lampard succeeding Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea last summer and Mikel Arteta taking over from Unai Emery at Arsenal.
However, managing a club is not for everyone as seen with Xavi and Barcelona.
The Barca legend was linked with the managerial post following the decision to part company with Ernesto Valverde at the beginning of the week.
Xavi has since confirmed he was approached to take the reins at the Camp Nou but revealed the offer came too early in his coaching career.
"Yes, I received an offer from Barcelona in a meeting with Eric Abidal and Oscar Grau but I did not accept it, especially because it is too early to train Barcelona but it will remain my dream in the future to be a Barca coach," he told Mundo Deportivo.
Barca turned to Quique Setien instead and Xavi is full of praise for the new boss.
"I love Barcelona's new coach, I love his way of working and I hope he succeeds with the team," he added.
"First I told my family and then the Al Sadd players because they followed the issue. For three days I was not in my best position but now I am totally focused on Al Sadd."
Xavi has previously stated that he would be interested in managing in England.
The 39-year-old, who is considered one of the greatest midfielders of his generation, retired from football nine months ago in order to take his first steps into management with Al Sadd in Qatar.
"That is my goal, but obviously, who doesn't like the Premier League? The football atmosphere, the packed stadiums and the people who play in the Premier League say it's extraordinary," Xavi told Sky Sports.
"Obviously if I had to choose, I would choose a big team, [Manchester] City or United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham.
"Also, [Jurgen] Klopp and [Mauricio] Pochettino and Unai Emery, many people who have gone there are doing an extraordinary job."
