The reason why Tanguy Ndombele, Aurier, Lo Celso and Sissoko missed Leicester vs Tottenham

Ryan Mason was without six senior players for Tottenham Hotspur's final match of the Premier League season at Leicester City.

The interim head coach was already missing the injured Japhet Tanganga and Ben Davies before the trip to the Foxes on Sunday afternoon.

However, Mason found himself without another experienced quartet of Tottenham players when it was time to travel to take on Brendan Rodgers' side.

Serge Aurier, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Moussa Sissoko were all missing as the coach arrived at the King Power Stadium.

The club confirmed soon after that Aurier missed out through illness while Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sissoko all had knocks and were deemed not fit enough to take part.

The quartet's absence presented opportunities to others to return to the matchday squad, including a couple of academy youngsters.

Joe Rodon was named in a Ryan Mason matchday squad for the first time while Carlos Vinicius made only his second squad under the 29-year-old boss.

Seventeen-year-olds Dane Scarlett and Nile John were also included among the substitutes.

Young forward Scarlett was making his third appearance in a Premier League squad, having made his competition debut earlier in the season as well as appearing in the Europa League twice.

John was making his first first appearance in a Premier League match squad, having made his debut for the club in the Europa League.
