The reason why Premier League TV fixtures for Christmas and new year have not been announced yet

Football fans across the country have been left waiting.

Waiting for the announcement of the television picks for games over the Christmas period.

Supporters were desperate to find out when and if their games over the busy festive period are going to be moved for TV coverage, so they can sort out travel arrangements and potential accommodation.

The Premier League have an article on their official website detailing when the TV schedule is due to be revealed.

And in it, their approximate date for the festive fixtures is October 11.

That was last Friday, but six days on we are still non the wiser.

The fixtures were expected today (Thursday, October 17) at midday, but once again there has been a delay.

And football.london has contacted the Premier League to find out what's going on.

The Premier League remain "hopeful" of an announcement today and have assured us that it will arrive by Friday at the latest - which still isn’t helpful for supporters.

And they informed us that the reason for the delay was due to "policing and infrastructure".

Amazon will show fixtures over the festive period, having won the rights to 20 games. The online streaming service won the rights to show every game from the first round of midweek fixtures in December and all 10 matches on Boxing Day as part of a three-year deal.
