The reason why Pedro is not in Chelsea's squad for their game with Brighton

Chelsea are without Pedro for their Premier League test with Brighton and Hove Albion this evening with the Spanish winger missing from the squad altogether.

The 31-year-old played 51 minutes in the 2-1 victory over Cardiff City on Sunday before being taken off for Eden Hazard but he's been dropped out of the squad altogether tonight.

It's precautionary for Pedro - he was suffering with a minor injury problem in South Wales and for that reason hasn't been risked tonight as Maurizio Sarri goes with the likes of Hazard and Callum Hudson-Odoi to start, with Willian on the bench if needed.

'The line-up everyone wants!' - Chelsea fans can't believe Sarri's starting XI against Brighton

The Spaniard is with the team at the Bridge this evening and went through his own individual warm-up before the teams came out for theirs with a member of the coaching staff with the hope that he will be fit again for the visit of West Ham on Monday.

His absence means that Hudson-Odoi gets his first Premier League start in blue this evening, something that has delighted Chelsea fans around the world.

Sarri had said on Wednesday at his press conference that the 18-year-old could start and he's kept to his word, while there are six other changes including the dropping of Gonzalo Higuain for Olivier Giroud up top.

A win for the Blues would keep pressure on the top four and keep the side in with a chance of getting Champions League football next season.
