While King Charles III, Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince William traveled to Balmoral to see the Queen, Kate Middleton, the former Duchess of Cambridge, remained at the Adelaide Cottage home in Windsor for a very understandable reason.
Earlier that day of the Queen's passing, Kate was photographed leaving the Windsor Castle grounds to pick up her kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis from school.
According to a statement from Kensington Palace, "The Duchess of Cambridge has remained in Windsor as Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are on their first full day at their new school."

Reportedly, the day of the Queen's passing was the first day for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at Lambrook School.
The previous day was a "settling-in day" for the Cambridge kids.
Kate, along with husband Prince William and the children were seen smiling in the photograph.
The royal couple had recently relocated from London to Windsor. Through Kensington Palace, they had also announced all about their children's new schools.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have today announced that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will attend Lambrook School in Berkshire from September 2022,” Kensington Palace stated.
“Their Royal Highnesses are hugely grateful to Thomas’s Battersea where George and Charlotte have had a happy start to their education since 2017 and 2019 respectively and are pleased to have found a school for all three of their children which shares a similar ethos and values to Thomas’s,” they further revealed.
Following the news of the Queen's worsening health, Prince William rushed to Balmoral, while Kate stayed back to tend to her children.
