The reason why Davinson Sanchez has not been named in Tottenham's squad to face RB Leipzig

Tottenham Hotspur are without one of their key defenders for their Champions League last 16 second leg clash against RB Leipzig.

Davinson Sanchez is missing from the matchday squad for the crunch match against the Bundesliga side at the Red Bull Arena.

football.london understands that the 23-year-old Colombian was deemed unavailable for selection due to a slight injury.

That means Sanchez joins a long Tottenham injury list which includes Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Moussa Sissoko, Ben Davies, Juan Foyth and Steven Bergwijn.

Sanchez has been a regular starter during Jose Mourinho's reign at the club, having also been a favourite of Mauricio Pochettino's.

The central defender's absence from the team in Germany also means it’s a big night for Malachi Fagan-Walcott.

The academy defender takes his place on the bench for the first time and in a Champions League match and on top of that turns 18 tomorrow.

He will sit alongside fellow academy star Troy Parrott with another teenager in the starting line-up as 19-year-old Ryan Sessegnon takes his place down the left.
