The reason why Chelsea transfer target Jadon Sancho has an all black Instagram post

If you go on to Instagram today, you may find some interesting posts.

Jadon Sancho is not the first and will not be the last to update his Instagram page today.

But the Borussia Dortmund forward, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United in the Premier League, has posted something he has not done before - a black square.

The caption on the black square reads #BlackoutTuesday.

So what is Blackout Tuesday and why are Sancho and other celebrities taking part?

Sony Music have described it as "a day of action committed to meaningful change in our communities both now and in the future".

In support of the #BlackLivesMatter protests following the death of George Floyd, people have been posting a plain Black Square onto their Instagram feed.

The square represents their support of the Blackout Tuesday campaign that is happening around the world.

It started in the music industry, but as is the way with social media, it has spread, and more and more footballers are expected to take part.

Sancho showed his support for the Justice for George Floyd campaign by showing off a t-shirt bearing that slogan after scoring the first of his three goals against Paderborn on Sunday.

The German DFB are looking into his message, however, and could sanction him for it.
