The reason Tottenham are playing in all white against Liverpool in the Champions League final

Eagle eyed Tottenham fans may have noticed one small detail ahead of the Champions League final against Liverpool.

It is expected that Spurs' stars will line up in an all white kit as It has been noticed that players have been posing for promotions in the white shirt and shorts combo.

The combination is not a new one though, as Mauricio Pochettino's men have been playing in white shorts for all of their European games this season.

The all white kit for European competitions has become somewhat of a tradition for the club. In fact, whenever it has been possible, the team have had the full white look for every European night since 1961.

The kit is a throwback to the great Tottenham teams of the 1960s, when the club won the European Cup winner's cup in 1963 - beating Atletico Madrid 5-1 in the final. The club also went onto win two further European honours when they won the UEFA cup in 1971/72 and 1983/84.

Some fans were initially unhappy with the white shorts combo with the faded blue effect on the current home shirts, but it seems others are seeing the tradition as a good luck charm following the team's dramatic semi-final comeback against Ajax in order to make it to the final (despite the team wearing the green away kit for the second leg of that tie).

Tottenham will be hoping that the traditional European all white kit will prove to be their lucky charm against Liverpool as the team look to make history themselves and conquer Europe just like their predecessors.
