The reason Timo Weah was NEVER going to accept Celtic's World Cup compromise

Tab Ramos has revealed Timo Weah was desperate to play for USA for the duration of the U20 World Cup even if it meant leaving Celtic in the lurch.

Neil Lennon decided to terminate the loan contract of the PSG youngster after the 19-year-old rejected a compromise deal that would allow him to play in the Hampden showpiece against Hearts and join up with the USA squad immediately afterwards.

His country's first game in the Under 20s World Cup in Poland is scheduled for the day before the Final, but he would have been able to join up afterwards.

However, Ramos has revealed how determined Weah was to go to the Finals and snub Celtic .

Ramos said: "One of the things I can tell you that has never wavered this whole time is that Timo really wanted to participate in the Under 20s World Cup.

"I think when you have a player who is really looking forward to a competition that he believes is really important to him, I think it makes things easier.

"I see him as both a striker and a winger. I really like him as a No.9 and I like him as a winger, too. Most of the time he will be a winger, but I would like to use him as a striker as well because I think he can be a great No. 9 for us.
