It was a debut to remember for Steven Bergwijn on Sunday as he played a key role in Tottenham's 2-0 win over Man City.
Signing a long-term contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the week after joining from Dutch side PSV, Jose Mourinho elected to throw the new signing straight into action against the reigning Premier League champions.
He certainly didn't disappoint as he scored the vital first goal to spark wild scenes in N17.
Chesting down Lucas Moura's lofted ball, the Dutch international then swivelled and volleyed it beyond Ederson from the edge of the box to mark his debut in style.
That was pretty much his last involvement in the game as he was substituted off shortly after with cramp.
Spurs fans are desperate to see more of the 22-year-old in action but they will have to wait a couple of weeks before he plays again.
The Lilywhites face Southampton in their FA Cup fourth round replay on Wednesday evening in the capital but Bergwijn will unfortunately have to watch on from the sidelines.
FA Cup rules state that all players must have been eligible to play in the original tie in order to play in a replay, thus meaning that the Dutchman cannot face Saints as he actually joined the club a few days after the original game at St Mary's.
However, Bergwijn will be available to play in the fifth round of the competition against Norwich providing that the team beat Ralph Hasenhuttl's men on Wednesday.
That means the next time Spurs fans will see the new signing in action will be away at Aston Villa on Sunday, February 16 as a number of teams aren't in action this weekend due to the winter break.
The closure of the January transfer window also means that Mourinho needs to name his squad for the Champions League as the team take on RB Leipzig in the Round of 16 later this month.
Champions League rules allow clubs to make three changes to their squads and Bergwijn, who played in the Europa League for PSV in the first part of the season, is almost certain to be one of those changes, with fellow January signing Gedson Fernandes also likely to come in.
