The reason Slaven Bilic will be in the dugout vs Chelsea despite red card against Everton

Frank Lampard will be able to shake hands with or fist bump Slaven Bilic at the weekend.

The Chelsea boss will be joined on the touchline by his compatriot from West Brom for Saturday's Premier League match - something that was not necessarily expected a few days ago.

Bilic is a fiery character - West Ham fans will know that only too well.

And that fire came out as his Baggies took on Everton at the weekend.

Trailing the Toffees 2-1, West Brom had Kieran Gibbs sent off on the stroke of half-time. The former Arsenal defender raised his hands into James Rodriguez's face, taking umbrage with the former Real Madrid man running into him late and was immediately dismissed by referee Mike Dean.

Bilic was incensed and went onto the field to remonstrate with Dean as he walked off. Dean did not like it and promptly produced a red card for Bilic too.

But, that does not mean an automatic touchline ban for Bilic, as it would do for a player receiving his marching orders.

While Gibbs will be missing, banned for his red card, Bilic will be allowed in the dugout and to prowl the touchline against Chelsea.

Managers only receive a suspension if the FA decide to act after reading the referee’s report, or if a manager picks up four yellow cards.

Bilic has accepted his charge of improper conduct and the FA have deemed it to have been only a minor incident so have fined him but not issued him with a touchline ban.
