The reason Reiss Nelson will miss Arsenal's Premier League clash vs Aston Villa

Reiss Nelson will miss Arsenal's Premier League trip to Aston Villa due to a slight groin issue, the club have confirmed.

The 20-year-old has made just two starts since football returned in June but was crucial in the side's 2-1 win over champions, Liverpool on July 15.

"Reiss Nelson misses out on tonight's game at Villa Park due to a slight groin muscle issue." Arsenal tweeted on their official Twitter account.

Mikel Arteta has named an incredibly strong squad to face Dean Smith's side despite expectations that he was rotate after securing a place in the FA Cup final - to be played on August 1 vs Chelsea.

"I want to win" - Arteta reveals he wants his Arsenal team to pull no punches against Aston Villa

Emi Martinez keeps his place in goal, after replacing the injured Bernd Leno, as Rob Holding, David Luiz and Sead Kolasinac appear to make up the back three.

Cedric Soares returns after being cup-tied for the 2-0 win over Manchester City at right wing-back as Bukayo Saka takes his position down the left flank. Lucas Torreira replaces Granit Xhaka to partner Dani Ceballos in midfield.

The real threat comes from Arteta deciding to start all three of Eddie Nketiah - who returns from suspension - Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Heading into the game, Arsenal still have a chance of qualifying for the Europa League through their league position which will give Arteta motivation to leave Villa Park with three points.

As it stands, a win would propel the Gunners two points behind seventh placed Tottenham Hotspur and three points off sixth placed Wolves, who play Chelsea on the final day of the season.

One player that misses out tonight [July 21] is Shkodran Mustafi after being forced off with a hamstring problem against Man City.

"We are assessing Mustafi after he had to come off because he felt something in his hamstring so we have to see how he is in the next few days," Arteta said ahead of the game.

"Everybody was with heavy legs and tightness so he had to come off. For Musti that's not very usual that he has to come off when he's not injured so we will have to see today and get the news from the doctor."
