The reason Rangers and Celtic have been moved to a 6pm start for festive fixture date

The Scottish Premiership have decided on early kick-offs for the midweek festive period.

The full midweek calendar of top-flight fixtures on Wednesday, December 23rd have been moved from their traditional 7.45pm kick-off slots.

Ross County’s trip to Celtic has been moved to 6pm, as has Hamilton’s clash with Livingston, Hibernian v St Mirren and St Johnstone v Rangers.

Motherwell’s game with Aberdeen on the same night will be at 6.15pm while Kilmarnock’s trip to Dundee United will start 15 minutes after that.

A Premiership source said: “The clubs feel with the fact that there are no fans that it would be easier to push the kick-offs forward.

“It also means it is a bit easier for teams that are also travelling those further distances during the festive period.”

Some clubs have already moved their kick-offs for Wednesday, December 30th.

St Johnstone v Hamilton goes on at 3pm, while Hibs v Ross County is at 6pm and Motherwell v Kilmarnock starts 15 minutes later.

Celtic v Dundee United, Livingston v Aberdeen and St Mirren v Rangers are still scheduled for 7.45pm as it stands.
