The reason Niko Kovac was at Everton's win over Chelsea

Former Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac was at Goodison today to watch Everton's victory over Chelsea .

The 48-year-old, sacked by the German giants in November, was sat in the Main Stand as Duncan Ferguson reign as caretaker boss got off to a winning start .

Images of the ex Croatia national team manager sparked rumours he was in the frame to replace Marco Silva who was sacked on Thursday night.

But it is believed that Kovac has travelled to England on a 'fact-finding' mission to take a closer look at the game in this country.

From Goodison, Kovac was due to be at the Etihad Stadium for Manchester City's game with Manchester United and then at the Hawthorns on Sunday to watch West Brom against Swansea City.
