The reason Kieran Tierney has been left out of first ever Celtic Festival amid Arsenal links

Celtic are hosting their first ever Festival this coming Friday and there's one notable absentee which should be of interest to Arsenal supporters.

The event is to celebrate all things Celtic and will last for three days as supporters get to meet the players as well as the club's new third kit being unveiled.

Via the club's official website, the list of players scheduled for the Festival includes Scott Brown, James Forrest, Scott Sinclair, Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor, Craig Gordon, Kristoffer Ajer and summer signing Boli Bolingoli.

Yet there's no mention of Arsenal transfer target Kieran Tierney.

Could that be a hint that a move to the Emirates Stadium is inching ever closer?

Some supporters certainly think so, judging by the responses on Twitter...

However, Tierney's absence could be down to injury.

The Scotland international is yet to feature for Celtic during pre-season as well as their Champions League qualifiers.

Luckily for the Hoops they've already brought in cover for Tierney in the form of Boli Bolingoli and manager Neil Lennon has revealed a timeframe as to when the former could be back in action.

"KT is still having problems with the pubic injury, so we will need to get to the bottom of that," Lennon said. "In terms of the double hernia, that’s all sorted now. But he’s still saying he’s a bit sore to start running.

"I don’t think it gets any worse, but there’s just a constant dull pain there. Eventually you can mature out of it. I have seen that. But right now, he still feels a lot of discomfort with it.

"The rest won’t do him any harm at all. I think he will benefit from it. We don’t want him to be out for too long but we need to get him right.

"He now has some competition in Boli (Bolingoli-Mbombo) too, so that means he can step in.

"That might take the weight off him a bit.

"He should hopefully be fit in another month, and we will look to get him out on the grass maybe next week."

Tierney's return coincides with the closing of the transfer window for Premier League clubs as well as the beginning of the new season for the Gunners.

Could it be that they are waiting for the left-back to return to fitness before striking an agreement with Celtic?

Amid Unai Emery's plan to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season, links to the Scotland international have been strong but the north London outfit have seen a £15m bid rejected as the Hoops hold out for £25m.

Football.london understands that although the Gunners are reluctant to meet Celtic's valuation in full, there is a compromise figure that can be found in excess of £20m.

Although, Lennon hinted this week that it could a £50m bid for Celtic to agree to sell Tierney.
