The October international break turned into somewhat of a nightmare for Chelsea and Frank Lampard.
As many as three first-team regulars picked up knocks whilst on duty for their respective nations over the past week.
N'Golo Kante, whose season has been disrupted by several fitness problems, was the first to raise concern amongst Blues supporters when he had to withdraw from the France starting line-up against Iceland last Friday.
Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps confirmed the decision to take the midfielder out of the team was injury related, but stressed he didn't think it was too serious.
"He felt a pain in the adductor [groin] muscle," Deschamps said. "He had a feeling where he did not feel comfortable to play.
"I made the decision [to pull him from the squad], because maybe it could get even worse. I knew Moussa would be ready. I do not think it’s too serious for NG [Kante], but I do not have an answer tonight."
Kante would go on to miss France's second fixture against Turkey and latest reports claim he's doubtful for this weekend's Premier League encounter with Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
As is Mateo Kovacic who was injured during Croatia's 1-1 draw against Wales, with some Chelsea fans conjuring up a theory as to who was responsible for the midfielder having to be substituted before half-time.
Meanwhile, Andreas Christensen is set to miss out with the hamstring problem sustained in Denmark's 1-0 win over Switzerland.

With that said, there is some good news for Lampard.
Despite Jorginho sitting out Italy's win over Liechtenstein on Tuesday evening, it's expected that the newly-appointed Blues vice-captain was being rested rather than carrying an injury.
Given that the Azzurri's place at next summer's European Championships is already confirmed, manager Roberto Mancini opted to take a look at other members in his squad.
Jorginho was on the scoresheet in Italy's 2-0 win over Greece on Saturday night.
He gave Italy a much needed breakthrough early in the second half and also netted his third goal for the national team - all of which have been penalties.
