The reason Gabriel Martinelli starts ahead of Alexandre Lacazette for Arsenal at West Ham

Arsenal interim manager Freddie Ljungberg has explained his team selection for the game against West Ham.

Ljungberg has made four changes in total with Kieran Tierney and Calum Chambers taking the place of David Luiz and Sead Kolasinac in the Gunners backline.

While Gabriel Martinelli is set to make his first Premier League start of the season with Alexandre Lacazette dropping to the bench.

And Ljungberg has opted to shuffle his pack in a bid to add more energy to his side.

"There is a lot of games in December so with fatigue and stuff we want to get energy in the team and like we said shake things up a little bit," he told Sky Sports before the game.

"He (Martinelli) has done very well in the Europa League games.

"He is dangerous, works hard, runs in behind and puts a shift in.

"I think he’ll do really well.

"Pepe I thought did really well when I put him on in the second half in the last game and we want him to be who he is and I want him to be difficult to read at the same time I need him to his defensive work as we are away from home."

Before the Swede added on Chambers’ inclusion: "I think he has been doing well and training really well.

"We played at Newcastle and we had an away win and he played."
