The reason Everton are wearing their old third kit against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park

It may be a new season, but for Everton fans they may be getting a sense of deja vu against Crystal Palace today (Saturday).

Crystal Palace and Everton are in action at Selhurst Park this afternoon (Saturday) as they kick off the new Premier League season.

But Everton fans may be wondering why the Toffees are not playing in their away kit at Selhurst Park, with the Toffees instead playing in their old third kit from last season.

Marco Silva’s men were intending to play in their new coral and navy away kit for the game in south London, but the Liverpool Echo reports that match officials requested a changel, owing to a clash with Palace’s home red and blue kit.

It was determined that Everton’s blue and white home kit was also unsuitable, and with the Toffees not having released a new third kit yet for the 2019/20 season, they are instead wearing their third kit from last season.

The all-white kit was worn several times by the Toffees last season, including when the two sides last met at Selhurst Park, back in April.

On that occasion, the game finished 0-0.

Both sets of supporters will be hoping for a different outcome on this occasion.
