Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness has admitted that there were always going to be "bumps in the road" for Chelsea this season.
The Blues have only won one of their last five Premier League games, losing four times.
However, Chelsea remain fourth in the Premier League table, three points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur ahead of their meeting on Sunday.
A win for Spurs would move them above Frank Lampard's side, however, and up to fourth place.
Souness, though, believes that Chelsea fans shouldn't be concerned by their dip in form, as he believes this was always likely to be the case with such a young group of players.
"Chelsea, as Frank [Lampard], said, he knew the difficult times were coming. Apart from the first game in the season, they have been very good, quite consistent," Souness told Sky Sports Super Sunday ahead of kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
"A lot of good things have been said about the young players but with young players you get bumps in the road. It's not as smooth as when you have an experienced team.
"I think this is a big test for them today. I get why he isn't playing Jorginho. With the power Tottenham have in midfield, he has to match that somehow."
