The reason Aaron Ramsey did not play in Juventus' Serie A win against Bologna

Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has had a mixed start to life in Italy after joining Serie A giants Juventus on a free transfer in the summer.

The Welshman has played four times for the club, scoring one goal. Although he has missed a further two through injury and has been an used substitute in another duo of matches.

Ramsey was left on the bench for the Serie A win over Inter Milan, but was left out of the squad entirely for the match against Bologna on Saturday afternoon.

Initial reports suggested that the midfielder's absence was due to an injury, however, according to Tuttosport , the decision was taken to rest Ramsey ahead of the Champions League midweek game.

The Old Lady take on Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday evening, and will be looking to pull away from second placed Atletico Madrid in group D by picking up three points.

Having previously struggled with injuries, Juventus decided to take the precaution of not playing Ramsey in the league game to prevent the risk of aggravating a knock that saw the midfielder miss both of Wales' European qualifiers against Slovakia and Croatia.

The report claims that Juvents boss Maurizio Sarri sees Ramsey as an important part of the team to take to the field against Moscow, and has taken the necessary precautions to protect his player ahead of Tuesday's match.
