The really easy stuffed crust pizza fakeaway recipe that doesn't need any yeast

Can't get hold of yeast but really want a doughy takeaway style pizza fresh from the oven?

This pizza base recipe doesn't require yeast, can be used with regular plain flour, and tastes just as good as the real deal.

And with this recipe, you can achieve a really tasty cheese-stuffed crust without much effort.

Plus, the great thing is you can use whatever you like/whatever you have at hand to top it, too.

And if you're vegan, just swap out the cheese for a plant based alternative and you're sorted.

This recipe will make two pizzas if you roll the dough thin enough.

Ingredients:

For the base:

  • 350g white flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 170ml water
  • cheese strings

For the topping

  • Either tomato passata/paste or BBQ sauce
  • Grated cheese
  • Grated Mozzarella
  • Mozzarella ball, sliced thinly
  • Meat and/or veg of choice

Method:

Heat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6

Sift the flour into a large bowl with the baking powder.  Add the salt and oil, then slowly stir in the water until it forms a bowl of dough.  If it's too stiff add a little more water.  If it's too sticky, add a small amount of flour.

Knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes. Really stretch it and give it some elbow grease.

On a floured surface, roll into 2 balls, then flatten out - by hand or rolling pin - into a circular shape.

Pull the edges of the base a little by hand.

Chop the cheese strings into three and place around the edge of the base.

Fold the edge of the dough base over the cheese strings and press down firmly to secure.

Add the sauce of choice and sprinkle the chosen toppings evenly on top.

Cover with a layer of grated cheese and the sliced mozzarella

Add a light layer of flour on a baking tray.

Add the pizzas and bake for 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbling.
