The real reason Roberto Firmino's hair was red for Champions League victory parade

Dejan Lovren has revealed the reason Roberto Firmino's hair was red following Liverpool's Champions League triumph over Tottenham.

The Brazilian was pictured with red spray in his hair in the hours which followed the Reds' 2-0 victory in Madrid.

Firmino, who won his first trophy as a Liverpool player, was also pictured during the victory parade debuting his temporary new look.

And according to the Croatian international this follows the bizarre pledge the players made ahead of the the Kiev final in 2018.

Speaking to Western Union in March, Lovren admitted his team-mates made a pact to dye their hair if they were victorious against Real Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp's side missed out on the trophy in last season's showdown but were victorious in Spain on Saturday.

When presented with a picture of Virgil van Dijk during the 'What's in a photo' video, the defender said: "Hair is still there!

"He said, because we had an idea that if we won Champions League, we would all cut our hair off or make it blonde or a different colour.

"He was the only one who didn't want to do anything. So I said to him, 'My friend, it doesn't work like that! If we are a team we do it like a team altogether'."

Alisson, Mohamed Salah, Alberto Moreno and Curtis Jones all took part in the pledge to spray their hair red.

But the only player who emerged from the dressing room with bright coloured locks was Liverpool's No. 9.

Firmino will be part of the Brazil squad to face Bolivia on June 15 as they kick off their Copa America campaign.
