The real Nicolas Pepe has finally arrived at Arsenal as Ivorian puts Rashford and Mane in shade

Arsenal fans have been looking for positives following a forgetful evening against Wolves at Molineux.

Amid the frustrations after two red cards and a first defeat since the turn of the year, there were bright sparks - particularly in the first half.

Nicolas Pepe has endured a tough period in north London since his club-record £72million capture from Lille but there are bright sparks, particularly in recent weeks.

A superb solo goal against Wolves in the first half saw the Ivorian's return hit two goals in three Premier League matches.

In fact, Pepe's numbers are even better when you dig deeper - with three goals in his last five starts and four goals in his seven starts overall this season. Add in three goals and three assists in the Europa League and there are very positive signs indeed.

Wolves 2-1 Arsenal: Mikel Arteta press conference

Arsenal fans have become aware of this and supporters on Reddit discussed his return in front of goal, making some very interesting observations.

In the Premier League this season, Pepe has averaged a goal every 180 minutes - better than Manchester United's Marcus Rashford (221), Liverpool's Sadio Mane (229) and Manchester City's Raheem Sterling (240).

While each of those three players have outscored Pepe this season, they have played considerably more football and many fans believe that their club-record signing should be playing more football after improving his return.

One supporter said 'the form he’s in he’s got to be one of the first names on the team sheet' and another added 'he's earned his starting place for now keep him there'.

While Pepe has not registered an assist this season, having contributed six last term, he's now one goal shy of his return in the Premier League and has already outscored himself in Europe compared to last year.
