The Reader reveal World Book Day winner

The Reader has today announced the winner of their World Book Day competition.

Ja'meelah Griffiths, aged four, has won a trip to The Reader's Storybarn for her entire reception class at St Silas C of E Primary School in Toxteth.

School children across Liverpool were asked to show The Reader what they love about their favourite book by sending in a drawing, painting or collage.

The Reader received more than 150 entries of which 30 finalists were chosen.

Ja'meelah's winning entry was a picture of the Gruffalo which the judges said made them smile.

Holly Wagstaff, Storybarn developer, said: " We were so excited to receive over 150 entries to our Storybarn competition – how brilliant to see so many children loving books across the city.

"We had our work cut out for us to choose a winner when we’ve had so many fabulous entries."

Ja'meelah has won a trip for all her classmates to The Storybarn.

The interactive story centre is for young people to explore, share and discover their love of books.

It features live-reading from story-sharers, crafts and even a giant slide.
