The Ravens’ bizarre 21-game preseason win streak is ridiculous, yet impressive

This is the online version of our daily newsletter, The Morning WinSubscribe to get irreverent and incisive sports stories, delivered to your mailbox every morning. Charles Curtis is filling in for Andy Nesbitt.

Nothing too noteworthy about the Baltimore Ravens winning a preseason game against the Tennessee Titans 23-10, because it’s the preseason.

But there is something extremely noteworthy about this: That’s the 21ST STRAIGHT WIN IN THE PRESEASON FOR THE RAVENS.

No, seriously. They sat a whole bunch of starters and still continued a streak in games that don’t matter to 21. They haven’t lost a preseason game since … 2015.

Is this some kind of indicator that the Ravens have some of the deepest teams in the NFL? Is there an edict from the front office to have the players play like it’s the regular season, and that’s part of the reason why the Ravens are seemingly good every year? If so, how are they avoiding injuries?

Maybe it’s just one of those once-in-a-lifetime coincidences, the roulette wheel landing on red like 10 times straight.

Whatever it is, it’s bizarre. But it’s impressive as heck, especially because Malik Willis looked good for the Titans.

And on top of that, head coach John Harbaugh has spoken about how it’s a big deal, and that’s SO SMART, a good thing for his players to think about.

“There’s going to be people that are going to say this doesn’t mean anything,” Harbaugh said via ESPN last year when the streak was at 19. “There’s going to be people that are going to look at it and say, ‘Wow, that’s something.’ I’m of the belief that everything has meaning in life.”

Amen.
