Ravens reach deal to send Joe Flacco to Broncos

It appears the Joe Flacco era in Baltimore is now over. According to numerous reports, the Ravens have reached a deal to trade their longtime starting quarterback to the Denver Broncos.

No trades can officially occur until the new league year begins in March, but teams are free to agree to terms now. In this case, the Broncos are reportedly set to ship a Day 3 (rounds 4-7) pick to the Ravens for Flacco and his $18.5 million salary in 2019.

Flacco lost his starting job to Lamar Jackson, a first-round pick in 2018. Even though he did lead Baltimore to a Super Bowl title after the 2012 season, Flacco’s statistics and performance have been no better than average for much of his 11-year career. He has never earned a Pro Bowl or All-Pro berth.

Denver struggled to a 6-10 outcome this season with Case Keenum as the starting QB. John Elway has had major issues in replacing Peyton Manning at quarterback, including failed experiments with the likes of Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch.
