The Rangers vs Celtic factor that excites Steven Gerrard as he makes 'no sentiment' line-up admission

Buzzing Steven Gerrard is raring to go on Saturday as Rangers welcome Celtic to Ibrox.

The second Old Firm derby of the season has a lot riding on it as Neil Lennon's men look to claw back the Premiership league leaders.

Celtic's form in December is vastly improved, but Rangers are still ticking along and have quietly racked up 13 league wins on the bounce.

It will be an enthralling contest and Gerrard loves the fact there's a quick turnaround for derby day following Wednesday's 2-0 win over St Mirren.

He told Rangers TV: "A quick turnaround to the Old Firm is always good.

"The quicker it comes the better for me, I'm really looking forward to it.

"It's a fantastic game, we're in a good place and I can't wait for that whistle to go."

Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack are both ruled out through injury and there are a few positions up for grabs in the starting line-up.

Ianis Hagi continued his impressive form by bagging another assist in Pailsey and has done himself no harm as he looks for a spot in the first XI.

But Gerrard says there are no guarantees and he has big decisions still to make regarding his team selection.

He added: "Ianis has come back into the team and he's contributing really well, I've got some big decisions to make for the weekend but that's where I want to be.

"People are pushing for places and that's the way it is but I'll pick a team that I think can do the job against Celtic and I can't really go on who scored in the last game or who's on form.

"I need to pick a team that's going to do the job against Celtic and there'll be no sentiment it'll be the team that I think can get us the three points."
