The Rangers players not travelling to Armenia as Steven Gerrard's also misses Europa League trip

Rangers will be without manager Steven Gerrard for their game against Alashkert due to the Covid-19 issues at the club.

Rangers confirmed they had positive cases and now a number of first team players and coaching staff aren't travelling to Yerevan for the match.

That includes first choice goalkeepers Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin as well as skipper James Tavernier and winger Ryan Kent.

It appears that Gary McAllister will take charge of the team in Armenia for the clash with Alashkert with the assistant boss travelling with the squad who left Glasgow Airport.

The Ibrox side are looking to reach the group stage of the Europa League for the fourth season in a row but will have to do it with a decimated squad in Armenia.

Also missing from the trip are Scott Wright and Calvin Bassey as well as suspended duo Kemar Roofe and John Lundstram, while Fashion Sakala is out of the squad with an injury.

It means Robby McCrorie is likely to make his competitive debut for the club between the sticks while the likes of Nathan Patterson, Connor Goldson, Joe Aribo, Alfredo Morelos and Steven Davis have all travelled.
