The Rams and Chargers’ new stadium tested out its ridiculous doubled-sided ‘Oculus’ videoboard

While there is plenty of uncertainty about the upcoming NFL season, we do know that whenever the time comes for the Rams and Chargers to take the field at SoFi Stadium, they will be doing so at an absolute marvel of a stadium.

The $5 billion facility is nearing its completion — despite, you know, a global pandemic — and this week, it’s come time to test the new, double-sided videoboard.

This massive — and unprecedented — videoboard system is being called the “Oculus,” and it’s a 120-yard-long, 2.2-million-pound 4K HDR LED display. If you thought that Atlanta’s 360-degree board at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was cool, just check this thing out:

I never knew the world needed a double-sided videoboard until now, but it’s happening.

According to the Rams, the screens contain 80 million pixels and have 260 speakers behind them … plus, a bunch of 5G antennas.

Visiting fans are seriously going to love their trips to Chargers home games (whenever fans are allowed back). That videoboard alone will be worth the trip.
