The RAF have been making the most of clear skies in Manchester again today

Another military plane has been spotted flying over Greater Manchester today.

Over the last few weeks the RAF have been taking advantage of clear skies and empty runways in the region.

Planespotters have been treated to appearances of the Chinook, a Red Arrows Hawk and a C-103J Hercules aircraft.

This afternoon, a C-17 Globemaster was spotted flying over south Manchester.

The huge aircraft was spotted from Timperley, Wythenshawe and Altrincham.

It is believed that the plane was flying into Manchester as part of a training exercise.

The Greater Manchester Air Cadets posted on Facebook: "Keep your eyes out of your windows, a RAF C17 is currently flying instrument approaches at Manchester Airport!"

According to the RAF website, the Globemaster can be used to transport everything from troops and supplies to military vehicles and even Chinook helicopters.

It has been typically used for humanitarian efforts around the world.

The aircraft is based at RAF Brize Norton.
