How the race for the first pick of the NFL draft on April 25 is faring, starting with those in the driver's seat:
49ERS (2-8)
Hit the bottom (or top) after the Raiders _ a team they beat 34-3 _ beat an Arizona team, which has two wins over the 49ers.
Remaining schedule: at Tampa Bay (3-7), at Seattle (5-5), Denver (4-6), Seattle (5-5), Chicago (7-3), at L.A. Rams (9-1).
ARIZONA (2-8)
By virtue of loss to Raiders, would pick ahead of them in any tie between the teams.
Remaining schedule: at L.A. Chargers (7-3), at Green Bay (4-5-1), Detroit (4-6), at Atlanta (4-6), L.A. Rams (9-1), at Seattle (5-5).
RAIDERS (2-8)
Had lost five straight before a gift-wrapped win in Arizona. Dwindling in numbers, though, and still must face the Chiefs twice. Have upper hand if tie is with 49ers based on regular-season result.
Remaining schedule: at Baltimore (5-5), Kansas City (9-1), Pittsburgh (7-2-1), at Cincinnati (5-5), Denver (4-6), at Kansas City (9-1).
TAMPA BAY (3-7)
If only the Buccaneers piled up the wins in the same way they pile up offensive yardage.
Remaining schedule: 49ers (2-8), Carolina (6-4), New Orleans (9-1), at Baltimore (5-5), at Dallas (5-5), Atlanta (4-6).
NY JETS (3-7)
Had bye week off to let Sam Darnold heal and contemplate the errors of their ways under Todd Bowles _ and how they'll handle still having to play the Patriots twice.
Remaining schedule: New England (7-3), at Tennessee (5-5), at Buffalo (3-7), Houston (7-3), Green Bay (4-5-1), at New England (7-3).
NY GIANTS (3-7)
Have gone on two-game winning streak to hurt their chances for No. 1 a year after getting Saquon Barkley at No. 2.
Remaining schedule: at Philadelphia (4-6), Chicago (7-3), at Washington (6-4), Tennessee (5-5), at Indianapolis (5-5), Dallas (5-5).
JACKSONVILLE (3-7)
AFC finalist a year ago let what seemed to be a sure upset win over Pittsburgh get away at the last second.
Remaining schedule: at Buffalo (3-7), Indianapolis (5-5), at Tennessee (5-5), Washington (6-4), at Miami (5-5), at Houston (7-3).
BUFFALO (3-7)
Can go from incomprehensibly bad to surprisingly not awful from one week to the next. Only one game left vs. team with record presently over .500.
Remaining schedule: Jacksonville (3-7), at Miami (5-5), N.Y. Jets (3-7), Detroit (3-7), at New England (7-3), Miami (5-5).
