The Queen will complete a Christmas first this year with annual speech

The Queen is set to complete a Christmas first this year with her annual speech.

Those who like to tune in to the Monarch's Christmas message on Christmas day will this year be able to broadcast it from their Amazon Alexa for the first time ever.

Anyone who owns a Amazon smart device will be able to ask voice-controlled assistant Alexa to play the speech in full from 3pm on December 25, the Mirror reports.

All you have to say is 'Alexa, play the Queen's Christmas Day message' or 'Alexa, play Queen Elizabeth's Christmas Day message'.

Eric King, director of Alexa Europe, said: "After a challenging year, millions of people from across the Commonwealth will be eagerly awaiting Her Majesty the Queen's message on Christmas Day.

"By creating this world-first innovation, just as we did in 2012 with the release of the Queen's Christmas speech on Kindle, we hope that even more people will be able to enjoy the uplifting words of Her Majesty.

"This really is one for the history books and showcases just how far technology has advanced since the very first speech was delivered back in 1932."

This will be the second time The Queen has addressed the nation this year in another first.

Her Majesty issued a special broadcast about the coronavirus outbreak in April.

It was only the fourth time she had delivered this type of pre-recorded message amid devastating news in her entire 68-year reign.
