Queen Elizabeth II leaves after attending a church service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham (Picture: PA)

The Queen wore a striking magenta outfit for church in Sandringham today as her Christmas holiday continued.

The monarch arrived at the church on Sunday with other royals including Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Princess Anne and Prince Edward.

Prince Edward, the Queen’s son, walked to the church with his daughter Lady Louise Windsor. His wife, the Countess of Wessex, wore a cream coat, black boots and a navy blue fedora for the visit.

Princess Anne, who was resplendent in purple, was accompanied by her husband Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence.

The Queen was not accompanied by her husband Prince Philip (PA)

The Queen, who wore a matching magenta hat which was adorned with a floral display, was not accompanied by her husband Prince Philip, who also missed church on Christmas Day.

Her grandsons Prince William and Prince Harry and their wives Kate and Meghan did not attend on Sunday either but they had accompanied the Queen to church on Christmas Day.

The Queen, 92, arrived at the St Mary Magdalene Church to cheers from well-wishers who had gathered outside the church to try to catch a glimpse of the royals.
