The Queen's Speech: How Her Majesty stuck to social distancing for address to the nation

Her Majesty The Queen gave a poignant address to the nation on Sunday evening and did so while adhering to the Government's guidance on social distancing.

In her speech, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 93, personally thanked frontline NHS staff, care workers and others carrying out essential roles for their efforts.

And, in the deeply personal message, she described how the crisis reminded her of her first broadcast in 1940, with her sister Princess Margaret, when she spoke from Windsor to children who had been evacuated from their homes.

She ended the address: "“We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again."

And on Monday morning's Good Morning Britain, Dr Hilary Jones revealed how Her Majesty took precautions for the speech, which was recorded at Windsor Castle earlier last week.

"She filmed it in the white drawing room, which is said to be much larger than other rooms in the castle and it was filmed by a lone camera man wearing protective equipment."

The Queen referenced social distancing in her speech, which has been heralded by Piers Morgan as her "finest moment."

Her Majesty said: "“I also want to thank those of you who are staying at home, thereby helping to protect the vulnerable and sparing many families the pain already felt by those who have lost loved ones.

“Together we are tackling this disease, and I want to reassure you that if we remain united and resolute, then we will overcome it."
