The Queen's hidden tribute to Prince Philip as she addresses the nation before Harry and Meghan interview

The Queen issued a touching hidden tribute to Prince Philip as she addressed the nation on Sunday.

Her Majesty appeared in a pre-recorded message, aired before the broadcast of A Celebration for Commonwealth Day on BBC One.

In it she wore a stunning chrysanthemum brooch.

Made with sapphires and diamonds and set in platinum, she received it as a gift over 70 years ago rom W.B. Marr, Chairman of Sunderland-based shipbuilders Sir James Laing and Sons Ltd.

The Express reports that the brooch is a favourit e of the monarch, and that she also wore it on her honeymoon with Philip.

Her 99-year-old husband remains in hospital following heart surgery.

And The Queen used her speech on Sunday to stress the importance of staying in touch with family and friends during "testing times".

The message, about the Covid-19 pandemic, comes just hours before Harry and Meghan's 'tell-all' interview with Oprah Winfrey airs in the US.

The blockbuster two-hour interview will air this Monday night on ITV.

And as Harry and Meghan were due to be seen focusing on their own experiences of life inside the monarchy, the Mirror reports that the Queen, who is Head of the Commonwealth, used her Commonwealth Day message to highlight the "friendship, spirit of unity and achievements" around the world and the benefits of working together in the fight against the virus.

"The testing times experienced by so many have led to a deeper appreciation of the mutual support and spiritual sustenance we enjoy by being connected to others," she said.

And The Queen will reportedly not be staying up until the early hours to watch the interview, Claims, which Buckingham Palace didn't comment on, state she's only currently concerned about "duty and Philip".
