The Queen's funeral viewers distracted by continuous mishap

Viewers watching the Queen's funeral were distracted by paper that continuously fell to the floor.

The royal family and guests stood to sing during the Queen's service. The order of service, published by Buckingham Palace ahead of the funeral, included some of the Queen's favourite hymns, prayers and recitals, chosen by the monarch herself.

Whilst guests from around the world honoured her majesty's memory, viewers were distracted by a reoccurring mishap that stole focus during the broadcast. At the start of the service, as the song changed, a bishop lost control of his hymn book leading a page to fall to the floor.

Viewers noticed the accident before it was rectified off-screen though several moments later the mistake would occur again. Broadcasters then zoomed in on the page drawing even more attention to it than expected.

The pages stole focus as they were the only things out of place during the meticulously organised ceremony. Taking the moment in stride, viewers mocked and questioned when the situation would be dealt with for good.

One viewer said: "Are we just going to ignore the fact that the guy who dropped the paper isn’t there anymore?" Another added: "The world is staring at a piece of paper on the floor."

A third viewer said: "That piece of A5 paper is going to haunt whoever dropped it for the rest of their lives." A final comment added: "That churchy dude who dropped his paper while fiddling with his glasses and left it lying on the floor as the camera zoomed in on the casket will be etched in history forever!"

After the paper was lifted for a second time, the bishop who dropped it momentarily left the camera's sight. Viewers wondered where he went before he returned moments later with no explanation as to what happened.
