The Queen of the Eurovision Song Contest Loreen is heading to Liverpool

Loreen will represent Sweden in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

The Euphoria singer swept Sweden's national selection competition, Melodifestivalen 2023, which rewarded her with a spot in this year's contest.

Going into the final, she was the bookie's favourite to win with an 85% favour over her 11 competitors. Her dancefloor banger, Tattoo, is pegged to do well overall in this year's Eurovision with it knocking the previous contenders, Ukraine, off the top spot shortly after it was released.

Eurovision fans and music lovers across Europe will be familiar with her original entry, Euphoria, which won the competition back in 2012, bagging the second-highest score ever at the time.

She's since gone on to global acclaim with many fans branding her the Queen of Eurovision. The 39-year-old will have to face off against her own reputation but also that of previous winners who returned for a second crack at glory.

Norway's Alexander Rybak (2009) threw his hat into the ring again in 2018 but only managed to place 15th. Ireland's Johnny Logan proved that a winner can indeed be crowned twice after he walked away victorious from both the 1980 and 1987 contests.

The Eurovision Song Contest's semi-finals kick off in Liverpool on Tuesday, May 9 and Thursday, May 11, with the grand final taking place on Saturday, May 13.
