The Queen is opening up Sandringham Estate to the public as a drive-in cinema.

At the end of September, an area of Her Majesty’s country home will be turned into a car-friendly movie theatre, complete with food and drink stalls.

The drive-in cinema experience is set to take place for one weekend only, from Friday 25 September to Sunday 27 September.

“Enjoy a wonderful evening in the Sandringham Gardens with the backdrop of Sandringham House,” the official Sandringham Estate website states.

“Relax and enjoy one or both of these ever popular films whilst enjoying fabulous street food and refreshments from artisan brewers and distillers.”

Tickets are priced at £32.50 per vehicle, but viewers can upgrade to a Premium ticket which includes a deckchair, table, popcorn and separate area to the side of your parking space for an additional £7.50.

The ticketing advice suggests that visitors should not have too many people in each car.

“We leave it up to your judgement, but please bear in mind the size of your car, those watching and the view from each seat,” it states.

“We offer deckchair seating for those with larger families or in groups of six, if your car is not suitable.”

The outdoor cinema will boast an LED screen, providing a “clear view whatever the weather”, and viewers can listen to the film through transmitters that connect to the Bluetooth or aux on their car’s audio system.

There are a number of films on offer over the course of the weekend including Rocketman, The Greatest Showman and Grease. Here is the full lineup:

25 September

5pm: 1917

9pm: Rocketman

26 September

1pm: Toy Story

5pm: The Greatest Showman

9pm: Bohemian Rhapsody

27 September

1pm: Moana

5pm: Grease

9pm: A Star is Born
