The Queen is looking for an 'exceptional' Edinburgh maid to work in her palace

The Queen is looking for an 'exceptional' maid to work part time in her Edinburgh Palace at Holyrood.

The successful candidate will be paid £9.50 an hour for the role which is the UK Living Wage and would be contracted to 20 hours across Monday to Sunday.

The advert for the job, at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, reads: “This is a career pathway in hospitality that will develop your housekeeping skills and expertise.

"Joining their professional team, you’ll upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best.

“Learning from your colleagues, you’ll gain the specialist professional skills needed, always aiming for the highest standards. And you’ll welcome and take care of guests at functions and events too.”

Adding: “This is your opportunity to use your enthusiasm and interest in hospitality to deliver the exceptional.”

Interviews for the role are set to take place on January 31, with the vacancy closing on January 21.
