The Queen is holidaying in Balmoral ahead of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.

Her Majesty arrived at her private home in Aberdeenshire yesterday ahead of the big celebrations next week to mark 70 years on the throne.

The Jubilee celebration take place on Thursday and the Queen, who has attended a number of high-profile engagements in recent weeks, is having some rest ahead of the big occasion.

Mobility issues had stopped Her Majesty from attending some events but she managed to thrill with an appearance at the Royal Windsor Horse Show and Paddington Station for the official opening of the new Elizabeth Line.

The Chelsea Flower Show was also graced with her presence.

The Queen. who is now 96. is the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee..

Thursday will see the Trooping of the Colour, with the Royal Family riding horse-drawn carriages and waving from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Prince Andrew will not be on the balcony with only working royals allowed.

After a meal, a 10,000-strong group of Brits will perform a 12-act pageant, telling the story of the Queen's life on the throne,

Ed Sheeran will join the parade from Parliament Square along Whitehall and up the Mall as he leads tributes to the Queen.
