The Queen and three princes make Christmas pudding as they carry on tradition in aid of veterans

Festive photos released by Buckingham Palace show members of the royal family making Christmas puddings.

The Queen and future kings, princes Charles, William and George teamed up for the seasonal baking.

The photos mark the third time the monarch has posed with all three generations of future kings.

They were first pictured together for Prince George's christening in October 2013 and for the Queen's 90th birthday in April 2016.

Photos released also provide a glimpse of the Queen's Christmas tree in the palace's Music Room, which features a number of regal decorations including a crown, corgi, a throne, and soldier.

Royal family helped launch of The Royal British Legion's Together at Christmas initiative (PA)

The puddings were baked as part of the Royal British Legion's 'Together at Christmas' initiative.

The initiative is designed to provide extra support to the Armed Forces and veteran communities at annual festive 'get togethers' across the charity's network of outreach centres.

Absent from the baking was Kate Middleton, who showed off culinary skills with cooking queen Mary Berry in A Berry Royal Christmas, which aired on Monday night.

In the show the Duchess of Cambridge revealed Prince George's first words were "Mary Berry".

The young royal learned to speak thanks to spotting the Queen of Puds’ name and face on his mum’s bookshelf.
