Celebrities have paid tribute to 100-year-old Captain Tom Moore, as it was announced today that he passed away after battling coronavirus and pneumonia.
The WW2 veteran and beloved fundraiser lost his life having been taken to Bedford Hospital on Sunday.
Capt Sir Tom's fundraising efforts raised more than £32 million for the NHS, walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday during the first national lockdown in April.
The veteran set out to raise £1,000 from his lockdown charity challenge but his efforts struck a chord with the nation, and praise and donations flooded in.
And many celebs took to social media to pay tribute to the NHS hero.
The Royal Family official Twitter account shared some kind words: "The Queen is sending a private message of condolence to the family of Captain Sir Tom Moore. Her Majesty very much enjoyed meeting Captain Sir Tom and his family at Windsor last year. Her thoughts and those of the Royal Family are with them."
Piers Morgan, who befriended Captain Tom after he appeared on GMB, said: "RIP Captain Sir Tom Moore, 100.
"A magnificent man.
"A national hero.
"In our darkest hour since WW2, he rallied Britain with his resilience, courage and optimism.
"Let us all heed his mantra in our own lives: ‘Tomorrow will be a good day.’
"Thank you, Tom."
Piers' co-host Susanna Reid also wrote: "The man who united and inspired our nation at a moment of deepest despair. Thank you Captain Sir Tom Moore for your service. I am heartbroken for your family. A life well lived, and well loved. RIP."
Peter Andre wrote: "This has made me very sad. Rest In Peace Captain."
Joe Wicks penned: "An inspiration who helped millions of people feel hopeful and optimistic during a difficult time. Rest in Peace Sir Captain Tom Moore."

Love Island's Dr Alex George also paid tribute. He wrote: "Captain Sir Tom Moore gave us all hope during this pandemic. A real symbol of optimism, resilience and positivity.
