The quadruple Arsenal suspension risk vs West Ham to hand Freddie Ljungberg a selection headache

Arsenal interim head coach Freddie Ljungberg has several key decisions to make when selecting a side to face West Ham on Monday night.

Four of the Arsenal squad are walking a suspension tightrope for the trip to London Stadium, as any player who earns five bookings from his side's first 19 Premier League matches of the season will have to serve a one-match ban.

This means Calum Chambers, Matteo Guendouzi, Sokratis and Granit Xhaka are all at risk of suspension if they pick up a yellow card against the Hammers, having already accumulated four bookings apiece.

The ban would rule them out for the Gunners' next league game, which is against Manchester City at the Emirates on Sunday.

Arsenal 1-2 Brighton: Freddie Ljungberg full post-match press conference

Sokratis picked up his fourth caution in Arsenal's 2-1 defeat to Brighton, as Freddie Ljungberg took charge of his first home game as interim head coach.

The Swede was placed in charge after Unai Emery was sacked just over a week ago, following Arsenal's poor run of form, and is still looking for his first victory after the 2-2 draw with Norwich and the loss to the Seagulls on Thursday night.

Speaking ahead of the Gunners' trip to east London, Ljungberg said: "If you score the first goal you don’t have to chase the game. You don’t have to open up as much because you can control the game so that’s something that, in my opinion, we need to change a little bit.

“We started really well at Norwich. We started the second half really well [against Brighton] and I was sure we were going to win the game and get going again. We get a sucker punch on a counter or as they play down one side. It’s hard to take but we keep plugging away.”

Arsenal will be without midfielder Dani Ceballos, who has been out injured since being withdrawn against Vitoria last month. The Spaniard is still dealing a hamstring problem and isn't expecting back in training until mid-December.

Rob Holding is also a doubt after picking up heavy bruising, and is being assessed ahead of the game.
