The Pussycat Dolls' feud is exposed as clip of very awkward performance goes viral

The Pussycat Dolls made their highly anticipated comeback on the X Factor on Saturday night, but one member was noticeably missing.

And a newly resurfaced clip seems to shed some light on the rumours of a feud that have followed the band for years.

In the video lead singer Nicole Scherzinger looks fuming as Melody Thornton, a no show on X Factor, randomly takes over and starts wailing down the microphone.

The group were performing their hit song Buttons at the 2006 American Music Awards and as usual Nicole was on lead vocals while the other band members danced in the background.

Suddenly Melody starts singing above the chorus and walks in front of the other women while they dance the routine they'd rehearsed.

The camera then panned to Nicole, who was clearly not happy with the sudden outburst.

As the rest of the girls slowly made the way to the front of the stage Nicole pushed herself forward and stood in front of them all, reclaiming her place as leader.

A clip of the very awkward moment has gone viral after it was shared on Twitter following their big reunion.

One Twitter user captioned the video: "In honour of the Pussycat Dolls reunion, a moment for the time Melody Thornton went rogue doing adlibs and Nicole Scherzinger was visibly raging."

Earlier this year Melody told the Mirror how she wasn't allowed to sing in the group, which harmed her mental health.

She said: "It felt awful, uncomfortable. I was a singer, not a trained dancer, but wasn't allowed to sing and was told I couldn't dance."

The band's comeback appearance sparked 419 complaints to Ofcom, with some viewers comparing it to a "strip show" thanks to their raunchy outfits.

The girls turned up the heat in the studio, with things only getting more x-rated as they ended the routine by being soaked in water.
