The PSG clause which could ruin Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham's summer transfer plans

With just under a month until the transfer window for English clubs slams shut, more activity is expected at Tottenham Hotspur.

Last week Tuesday proved to be a memorable one for supporters.

Following 500+ days without making a single signing, the Lilywhites confirmed two deals in a matter of hours. Firstly, Jack Clarke completed his move before rejoining Leeds United on a season-long loan deal.

Later that day Spurs smashed their transfer record with the £63m signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon and the Frenchman has put pen-to-paper on a six-year deal with the club.

But the north London outfit aren't done in the transfer market just yet.

In fact, links with Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso refuse to go away and his future could soon be resolved as the Copa America tournament has now concluded.

New Real Betis manager Rubi was resigned to losing the midfielder when speaking last month.

"You always want to have the best players at your command and Lo Celso is, " Rubi told reporters. "I don't have to talk about a player who, without being a striker, has scored 16 goals in his first season here.

"But I do say one thing. I have peace of mind that, if he has to leave, hopefully not, that money will be invested in improving the squad."

Money is reportedly the sticking point in negotiations between Spurs and the La Liga outfit.

Lo Celso has an £88m release clause in his contract with Betis who are willing to do a deal for around £70m which would mean Tottenham breaking their transfer record twice in the same summer.

One reason for Betis holding out for such a large transfer fee is because - as reported by Football Espana - Paris Saint-Germain are in line to receive 20% of any future deal for the midfielder.

Therefore, as Spurs are reluctant to smash their transfer record again, it looks likely that Lo Celso will be staying put unless Betis lower their demands or pursue a deal for Dani Ceballos.
